MDGE Opening & Signing Ceremony at the 23rd MIF

On October 18, 2018, the Macau.China Diamond & Gem Exchange (MDGE) held opening ceremony and signing ceremonies at the 23rd Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF). Mr. Leong Vai Tac, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau S.A.R., Ms. Li Huaying, Head of TradeOffice, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau S.A.R.,Mr. Kou Hoi In,  President of the Commercial Association of Macau, Mr. Li Zhizhong, Chairman of the Macau Chinese Enterprises Association, Mr. Lin Qiang, President of Shanghai Diamond Exchange, Mr. Jiang Yisheng Chairman of ICBC (Macau) and Mr. Su Wei, Chairman of MDGE jointly unveiled the Macau Diamond & Gem Exchange and carried on the strategic cooperation signing ceremony

 Mr. Zhang Zurong, Chairman of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Mr. Jiang Yisheng,  Chairman of ICBC (Macau) and Mr. Su Wei, Chairman of MDGE delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) sent a congratulatory letter to congratulate the successful MIF and opening of the Macau Diamond & Gem Exchange.

At the opening ceremony, witnessed by the Economy and Finance of Macau S.A.R., Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau S.A.R., the Consul General of Mozambiquein Macau, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Economic Bureau of Government of the Macau S.A.R. Monetary Authority of Macau, WFDB, the Commercial Association of Macau, the Macau Chinese Enterprises Association, Shanghai Diamond Exchange and ICBC Macau and other relevant leaders. Macau.China Diamond & Gem Exchange has signed strategic cooperation agreements with Shanghai Diamond Exchange, ICBC Macauto jointly promote the diamond and gemstone trade and the development of the jewelry industry in Macau.

 

 

 

 

 

Macau has the channel advantage of Portuguese-speaking countries of the supply of rough diamonds. MDGE will actively develop concentrated rough diamond trading, which will drive rough diamonds into SDE and further promote the Chinese diamond industry. MDGE will combine Macau’s development planning of the financial industry with the overall conditions its free port and take advantage of its financial innovation and capital advantages, while injecting liquidity into the global diamond and gem industry by creating a “diamond bank” in a safe and controllable environment. In doing so, this will attract global diamond and gem traders to transfer their stocks to Macau and gradually develop Macau into an internationally renowned colored stone processing base. By using this base as a foundation, the local gem processing industry can well support Macau’s design and brand growth in order to promote Macau as a world tourism and leisure center.


As the only settlement and clearing bank for diamond and gem exchange businesses in Macau, ICBC (Macau) will provide professional services for MDGE and its members. Specifically, ICBC (Macau) will provide an all-in-one package of financial services to MDGE. Besides meeting the growing needs of MDGE, ICBC (Macau) will continue to develop its strategic plans for future development by coordinating between onshore and offshore markets and utilizing its integrated resources within ICBC Group (the “ONE ICBC” Project).
