Israel’s polished diamond exports slid 33% in 1Q 2018


Israel’s polished diamond exports declined 33% to $1.16 bn in the first quarter of 2018. By volume, polished diamond exports fell 1% to 496,783 cts.
Polished imports rose 7% to $747.2 mn, while net polished exports dropped 60% to $409.2 mn.
Rough diamond imports recorded down 7% to $728.6 mn, while rough exports too were down 1% to $761.3 mn. Net rough imports stood at $33 mn, compared with a $17 mn a year ago.
Israel’s net diamond account went down 56% to $441.9 mn for the January-to-March period.
